Movie Talk : Dil Dhadakne Do

I've been waiting to watch this film since last year. I mean since they started filming this movie. In addition, the main casts are my favourite (especially Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra). Dil Dhadakne Do is not you typical family-theme hindi movie. DDD is something else. I watched this film 3 times,yes THREE TIMES because best gila I can watch this for thousand times. First time I watched it with my bolly twitter friends kekna and mieza on the first day it released,2nd time I watched it with didiey and the casts of Dil Dhadakne Do during the IIFA Gala Screening (entry about IIFA coming up after this entry!) and for the 3rd time I watched it alone because emm emm i just love this movie.

The Mehras - Kamal (Anil Kapoor) and his wife Neelam (Shefali Shah),together with their children Ayesha (Priyanka Chopra) and Kabir (Ranveer Singh) are dysfunctional punjabi family. Kamal always proud with himself as a self made man,that managed to build his own business empire AYKA that facing the bankruptcy. He however has troubled relationship with his wife Neelam. Ayesha married with Manav (Rahul Bose) and set up her own online travel portal. Kabir unwillingly participates in the family business and yearns to pursue a career as a pilot. Kabir has a dog named Pluto (voice by Aamir Khan).

The Mehras

To celebrate the 30th wedding anniversary of Kamal and Neelam, they invite their family and friends for 10 days cruise trip across Mediterranean. Kamal and Neelam also have another agenda during the trip which is to get Kabir married to Noorie Sood, his friend's daughter in exchange for his investing in AYKA.

In the ship, Kabir meet Farah Ali (Anushka Sharma),the dancer on the cruise and fall in love. While Noorie falls in love with Rana Khanna,a son of his father's rival. Kabir and Noorie decide to manipulate their parents to believe they're having a relationship, but continuing their respective relationships. Meanwhile Ayesha wants to get a divorce from her husband,but her parents against it. Sunny Gill (Farhan Akhtar), Ayesha's love interest before she get married with Manav join them on the cruise and she still has a feeling towards Sunny.

Farah calls off her relationship with Kabir,when Kabir's aunt tell everyone about Kabir-Noorie's engagement. Elsewhere, Kamal saw Noorie making out with Rana, and is soon rushed to the hospital due to excess stomach gas. In the hospital room, Kamal tells Kabir that he saw Noorie with Rana, and asks him to call of the engagement. Kabir, in a bout of anger, admits to his family that he knew about the couple all along, and that he is in love with Farah. He also tells them of his intention to not work in the family business anymore. Later, while trying to settle down the problem between Manav and Ayesha, Kamal see Manav misbehaving with her. He agrees to the divorce and begs Ayesha for forgiveness. Ayesha finally reunites with Sunny.

Kabir tries to persuade Farah to forgive him, but she got fired from her job and leaves the ship. Kabir realises of her fate much after the ship has set sail. Kabir jumps off the ship in hope of his family rescuing him and helping him get to the shore. Kamal, Neelam, Ayesha, and their dog Pluto find a lifeboat to rescue him. The Mehra family is seen happy in each other's presence for the first time.

What I like about Dil Dhadakne Do:

1. I must say that Farhan Akhtar did a brilliant job writing the dialogue,especially Kabir's dialogue. There's a lot of LOL moment for example "that was epic,no that was epuke!" "practical?is that what they teach you in London?to be practical? *in british accent" "auntie that is butter knife" and many more!

ranveer is already hot then he decide to wear captain's uniform.super hot!

2. All of the main casts are damn good,especially Anil Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. DDD is Ranveer's best performance till this date after Lootera in 2013. The siblings jodi (Ranveer and Priyanka) are perfect. They look like the real life sibling. Shefali did really well as Neelam Mehra. But I wish Farhan and Anushka have more scenes in this film

3. The supporting casts really bringing up this film to the next level! It's been awhile since the last time Bollywood has a great supporting casts (I do love Hum Saath Saath Hain's supporting casts before this). I love Noorie and Rana's character, as well as Kabir and Ayesha's cousin Putlu.

4. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy did a great job for the soundtracks. I love all the songs,especially Gallan Goodiyan and Pehli Baar. One of the best soundtrack album for 2015.

5. I couldn't ask for more. Zoya Akhtar is one of the best director. First Zindagi Na Milege Dobara,now Dil Dhadakne Do. She really know how make her film different from others. I love love love the cinematography.

best line ever!

What I dislike about Dil Dhadakne Do:

1. There are few scenes that a lil bit draggy.

2. I wish Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar have more scenes so we can see the romance between Kabir-Farah and Ayesha-Sunny.

Overall, 9/10 for Dil Dhadakne Do. Some people might not like it, but I do love this film. I love Ranveer Singh even more after watching this film.

So guys, go and watch this film. After all,it's been ages since the last time Bollywood have a good family themed movie.

Great Eastern Color My Heart Run

Sebenarnya nak buat review movie tapi macam bosan je asyik asyik movie review. So iols hold dulu review tu. Meh la cerita benda yang jadi last 2 weeks (kot).

Dari last year nak join color run. Tapi tak sempat nak register. Tahun ni aku google je color run, terus keluar Great Eastern Color My Heart Run ni, aku terus register tanpa was was.

Takkan nak lari sorang kan?Kalau lari sorang aku nak campak color powder tu dekat sape. Haruslah ajak amanda,ateng and mira. Tapi last minute amanda and mira tak boleh join,maka berlari berdua la aku dengan ateng.

Macam biasa la running event ni gather time dia time subuh.Sebagai orang yang berlagak cool,pukul 7 baru sampai dataran merdeka kakaka. Orang haruslah ramai,ada yang dah siap comot comot dengan color.

Before start lari (lari ke?) ada volunteers akan pass color powder.sorang dapat satu color sajo tapi ateng buat perangai dia amek sampai 2.actually semua buat perangai keji amek lebih dari 1 color. ye la kalau satu color je mana nak cantik baling kat baju ye dok?

Lepas launching ceremony,semua pakat berlari. first time aku tengok running event tak ramai yang lari. majoriti jalan berlenggang sambil baling color powder ke member. sepanjang 5km run tu ada 3 checkpoint (dah lupa rasanya 3) untuk top up color powder masing masing. ada jugak water station tapi by the time both of us arrived,tinggal tong je air semua habis.

Sepanjang lari tu tak mampu la nak amek gambar sebab takut phone kotor. ye la tangan dah penuh dengan macam macam color.

yes aku buang terus baju tu sebab tak rajin nak basuh

selfie sambil baring itu wajib. sebab aku tengok color run kat oversea semua buat macam ni kakaka

dah basuh pun tak hilang T_T

Overall, color run memang best.boleh la nak feeling feeling hindustan kejap. Ateng semangat sampai nak join lagi

Movie Talk : Piku

Rasa macam takde life betul 3 post berturut turut movie review. But I have nothing to do besides watching movies actually. Lepas internship habis, I'm working at home,bagi update pasal kerja dekat boss every friday lepastu tengok movie.

Like I mentioned in previous post, besides Bombay Velvet, I also watched Piku. Melampau kan tengok 2 movie berturut turut in one day. Masuk GSC pukul 11.30,keluar pukul 4. Lepas kecewa tengok Bombay Velvet,berlari keluar dari hall,masuk hall lain tengok Piku. Dah la lambat masuk 10 minit,nasib baik boleh catch up.

I had fun watching Piku. Dah la kelakar dari mula cerita sampai ending. Satu hall gelak tak ingat dunia.

Piku is a story of Piku Banerjee (Deepika Padukone), a bengali architect who lives in Delhi with her 70 years old father Bhashkor Banerjee (Amitabh Bachchan). Bhashkor ada masalah sembelit dan suka menyalahkan semua benda yang terjadi dalam hidup dia tu berpunca dari sembelit. Piku loves her father,tapi kekadang annoyed dengan ayah dia sendiri sebab his behaviour. Her bestfriend Syed Afroz is also her colleague and Piku is the regular client of Rana's (Irrfan Khan) taxi business.

Satu hari Piku decide nak jual rumah lama family dia dekat Kolkata,tapi dibantah oleh ayah dia. Bhashkor bantah sebab dia sayang rumah tu,and decide nak pergi Kolkata sendiri untuk cancel the deal. Piku tahu dia tak boleh biarkan ayah dia travel sorang, so dia kena temankan jugak. Bhashkor gunakan isu sembelit dia dan buat keputusan untuk travel to Kolkata by road,kononnya kalau travel by flight or train,susah nak masuk toilet.

Disebabkan Piku sangat garang dengan taxi driver sebelum ni, bila Piku booked taxi untuk pergi Kolkata,semua lari and make Rana as the owner to take his responsibility, to volunteer himself to bring Piku and her father to Kolkata.

Delhi-Kolkata bukan dekat k,1500km and it tooks 45 hours to drive. So dalam perjalanan tu macam macam insiden kelakar yang jadi (taknak cerita uols kena tengok sendiri) sampai Rana naik angin. Finally dorang sampai Kolkata, and Piku's uncle and aunt still live in their family house. Masa dekat Kolkata, Rana and Piku pergi jenjalan and become closer.

Esoknya Rana nak beli Delhi, before that dia sempat nasihat Bhashkor regarding his constipation problem and Piku about not selling the house. Piku changed her mind,tak jadi jual rumah lama tu. Bhashkor tetiba buat perangai pelik naik basikal keliling town and beli fried snack. Piku bengang dengan tindakan ayah dia, ayah dia buat buat tak dengar and masuk toilet. Then he said masalah sembelit dia dah hilang and dia perlu naik basikal hehari.

The next day, Bhashkor mati,tapi mati dalam tenang sebab dia pernah mention dia taknak mati dengan wayar dekat tangan apa semua. Piku observes that parents, however irritating they become in their old age, should not be judged. Cerita habis dengan Piku and Rana tengah main badminton.

What I love about Piku:

1. I must say this is one of the best hindi film that I have ever seen. The way the director portray the relationship between father and daughter, is brilliant. From the beginning of the story sampai ke ending (except when Bhashkor mati),aku gelak tak habis habis sebab the script kelakar gila. Bukan lawak hambar tapi lawak genius and I thanked the scriptwriter for the amazing script.

2. The cast, i must say the perfect casts. Piku is one of Deepika's best performance  (after Chennai Express and Cocktail). No doubt she is one of the most versatile actress in Bollywood. No one can pull the Piku character like her. Plus aku bias sikit bab bab Deepika ni. I'm her biggest fan and always proud of her. And of course her chemistry with Amitabh Bachchan menjadi gila. Tak payah komen pasal Big B's acting sebab dia memang legend. Irrfan Khan as Rana, is amazing. I love Irrfan sebab semua film yang dia berlakon,selamba gila dia bawak character tu.

3. Piku takde nyanyi sambil joget merentas jalan apa semua. But I love the soundtracks, especially Journey song. Anupam Roy made a great job for the music.

What I dislike about Piku :

1. Bhashkor mati. Kalau dia hidup lagi bagus. Selain dari tu, everything is perfect about this movie.

Overall, I gave 9.8/10. Kakaka jadi 9.8 sebab aku bias hal hal deepika. Gais korang kena tengok Piku gais. Must watch! Lepas tengok movie ni confirm balik rumah nak peluk ayah masing masing.

Movie Talk : Bombay Velvet

Lepas jumpa boss dekat Zee and settlekan hal bank, I decided to watch Bombay Velvet and Piku. Piku's review bakal menyusul,nak cerita Bombay Velvet dulu, as requested by didiey,kekna and ara dekat twitter. Sebenarnya boleh je review dekat twitter tapi tak cukup words.

Bombay Velvet is about Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor), a street fighter who turns mobster, Rosie Noronha (Anushka Sharma), jazz singer from Goa yang lari from her sugar daddy and Kaizad Khambata (Karan Johar), media tycoon yang sibuk nak pertahankan his business empire,dengan apa cara sekalipun.

Johhny ada satu aim je dalam hidup dia,to become "a big shot" (kaya,powerful etc). He tried to rob Kaizad tapi gagal, and Kaizad offers Johnny to run his restaurant/pub Bombay Velvet and Johhny yang tamak accepts it. In return, Johnny kena buat apa yang Kaizad suruh, including bunuh orang. Rosie dihantar oleh Jimmy Mistry (Manish Choudhary), a newspaper editor to Bombay Velvet, to ruin Kaizad's business. 

Plot twist, Rosie and Johnny fall in love. Rosie decided to betray Jimmy because she loves Johnny so much. Manusia-manusia dekat Bombay semua tamak menyebabkan menteri suruh Kaizad bunuh Johnny because he's a threat. Johnny palsukan kematian Rosie sebab nak selamatkan Rosie,tapi sayang seribu kali sayang kantoi dengan polis. 

At the end,Kaizad hantar orang untuk bunuh Johnny tapi gagal, Kaizad culik Rosie, Johnny as a hero pergi selamatkan Rosie. Kaizad tembak Rosie, Johnny marah,Kaizad tembak Johnny tapi peluru habis, Johnny tikam Kaizad sampai mati. Depan Bombay Velvet, polis tahan Johnny and tembak dia, Johnny mati. Rosie hidup, moves back to Goa and still singing for Johnny.

What I like about Bombay Velvet:

1. The background music and soundtracks, kudos to Amit Trivedi. He definitely nailed the jazz songs and musics.

2. Karan Johar as Kaizad Khambata. Besides the music, Kjo's acting are the saving grace of this movie. Aku lagi excited tengok Kjo berlakon dari Ranbir. Part Kjo gelak masa Ranbir tak faham english tu sumpah lawak. 

3. Bombay Velvet's set and costumes. Anushka Sharma's costumes semua lawa lawa,especially the white gown nak satu please.

What I dislike about Bombay Velvet:

1. Where to start eh? banyak benda aku tak suka pasal movie ni. K memula the story. 2 jam setengah macam takde arah tuju,aku siap menguap lepastu menyesal sebab beli tiket.

2. Berape kali Ranbir kena bawak watak degil? After Rockstar, Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, can Ranbir actually bawak watak lain sikit. Haritu kecewa tengok dia in Roy, harini double kecewa tengok dia dalam Bombay Velvet. Ranbir seriously need to think about his career sebab there's many young actors out there who shinier than him like Sushant, Ranveer, even Ayushman!

3. Membazir buat set props memahal habis berjuta tapi tak tunjuk the whole city pun. And boleh nampak banyak scene kena buang. Padanlah Raveena Tandon bising.

4. Kalau bukak youtube ada music video Mohabbat Buri Bimari, tapi dalam movie takde sebab dah cut scene tu. Plus, in the movie bukan Anushka yang nyanyi tapi Raveena

5. Story dia simple je, pasal tamak and love. Tak paham macam mana the original duration boleh jadi 3.5 hours, dengan jalan cerita gitu, boleh habis dalam sejam setengah je

Overall, 5.5/10 for Bombay Velvet. Sebenarnya nak bagi 3/10 tapi extra 2.5 for the music and Karan Johar's act.

Kalau rasa nak pergi tengok,better don't. Tunggu download je. Serious macam nak refund balik duit tiket. I love Ranbir and Anushka, but Bombay Velvet dah bazirkan their talent, especially Ranbir's.
